Objects, Artifacts & Heirlooms
Do you have a personal treasure, a family heirloom or a collection of objects, documents or recordings that you think should be part of the Bancroft North Hastings Museum Collection?
We are pleased to receive donations or bequests including objects that reflect our heritage.
Objects that are accepted to the Collection may be eligible for a tax donation receipt. The rules about this tax receipt, as set out by the Canada Revenue Agency and managed by the Museum, help make donations financially valuable for the donor.
New acquisitions bring new perspectives to existing collections and to areas of research on an evolving society. The Museum collects objects in the areas of archaeology, geology, ethnology, history and many forms of folklore and popular culture that are part of our heritage.
The value of an object is increased when more is known about it. Who made it? How was it used? How did it come to be in your possession? The answers to these types of questions are important in our decisions to accept objects. We also look at the condition of the object, whether or not we already have similar artifacts, or whether the object fits into one of the Museum’s fields of research. Therefore, please understand that we cannot accept all offers.
Artifacts must have a certificate of value in order to qualify for an income tax receipt.
Note cards and 2024 calendars are available for sale through the museum.
